My life

Job hunting

I’m still on the hunt for a new job, so much so that I am even considering doing something like office cleaning or secretarial work. I was surprised to find that moving into this kind of work would not mean a pay cut. I am on a pretty low wage as it is but for significantly higher responsibility of job.  I have been thinking for a quite a while now that moving into this kind of work might not be so bad.

If my job paid me a bit more I would defiantly consider stopping, but for a science technician in the school I am in, pay is poor, the job is demanding and there are no prospects for promotion, it really isn’t worth it.

My wife has applied for a job as an under 5’s play coordinator, which basically means she has access to 3000 toys and gets to play with children all day. Doing this she would earn significantly more that I currently do and have fun doing it. This made me seriously reconsider what I am doing staying in a low paid job that I only took as a stop gap and which I really dislike.

My problem is that I have had a lot of different jobs now and the one am I currently in I feel I can take no pride in. And this all comes at a time where it seems almost impossible to change careers. I feel truly sorry for the millions that are out of work and don’t wish to be, and I am lucky to still have a job, but after so many years of university (and the debt that leaves you with) I just presumed I would be doing something better by now.
